Who nees applets? Processing in Javascript
This project is awesome. John Resig, the builder of jQuery, ported the Processing Language to Javascript relying heavily on the canvas tag provided by HTML5. You need a modern Browser (Firefox or Safari) to view the numerous examples. It’s a glimpse at what standard browsers are able to do in the future.
Flash Player 10 Built-in 3D vs. Away3D and Papervision
The next version of the Flash Player will support simple 3D mechanisms per se. The folks at airtight gave the new functions a try and got some interesting results out of that.
“FP10 offers a very limited subset of the functionality offered by Away3D and PV3D (no cameras, complex objects, collada import etc), but for simple 3D scenes it gives much better performance. In the near future I imagine the PV3D and Away3D teams will incorporate FP10’s native 3D support to give the best of both worlds.”
Another flash flickr client but I really like the interface. Very clean and simple. Its intentional dissymmetry does provide the application with a human touch.
